Propane Changeover Regulator OPSO
The automatic changeover regulator is a device to deliver propane gas to your appliances at the correct pressure and without interruption in the gas supply.
Always read the instructions fully to understand how the unit operates.
The ACR-7 must be fitted and installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer. These engineers are checked to ensure they are properly qualified and competent to work safely and legally with gas. To find a Gas Safe engineer in your area, you can use the Gas Safe Registered Business search online or call 0800 408 5500.
Once the installation is complete, the engineer should connect both cylinders to the changeover device and carry out a system soundness test. They must also explain how the device and system operate. After this, your changeover device is ready for use.
The ACR-7 meets the requirements of EN13786:2004 and is a two-stage automatic changeover device designed to supply propane at a pressure of 37 mbar.
Using the Automatic Propane Changeover Regulator OPSO
-
The indicator window shows the status of the supply gas cylinder.
-
RED in the window means the supply cylinder is empty.
-
A clear window means the cylinder is full.
-
-
If the cylinder that the black changeover lever is pointing to shows red, that cylinder is empty. The device will automatically changeover to the reserve (full) cylinder.
-
The changeover lever should then be switched to point at the full cylinder, and the indicator should display a clear window to show the cylinder in use is full.
Safety Information For The Propane Changeover Regulator OPSO
-
The device has no user-resettable parts. Any attempt to adjust or tamper with it will void the guarantee.
-
Only use the correct-sized spanner when loosening or tightening cylinder connections.
-
Pigtail hoses must be replaced if damaged, worn, or after 5 years from their manufacturing date.
-
The rubber washer between the device inlet and the pigtail must be replaced if damaged or worn.
-
A leak test must be performed on the pigtail ends every time the cylinders are changed. Use a soapy water solution and brush it onto the joints. Bubbles will indicate a leak.
-
Never check for leaks with a naked flame.
-
If a leak is found, re-tighten the joint or contact your gas supplier.
-
Pigtails should never be twisted or kinked when connected.
-
Always protect the Propane Changeover Regulator OPSO from rain and snow. If water enters the device and freezes, it may malfunction.
-
Always change cylinders in a flame-free environment. Do not change them near naked flames, while smoking, or near electrical switches or appliances.
Easy-to-Read Operating Instructions
Your installer will explain how the system works, but here is a simple step-by-step guide:
1. Connect the Cylinders
-
Attach full gas cylinders to both the left and right sides of the unit.
2. Set the Changeover Lever
-
Turn the changeover lever to either the left or right to choose your starting supply cylinder.
3. Turn On the Cylinders
-
Open the valves on both cylinders.
-
Check all connections for leaks using soapy water (never a flame).
4. Normal Operation
-
The cylinder that the changeover lever is pointing to becomes the active supply.
-
When this supply cylinder becomes empty, the unit will automatically switch to the other cylinder.
5. Indicator Window
-
The lever does not move during automatic changeover.
-
The indicator window will turn red when the supply cylinder is empty and needs replacing.
6. Replacing an Empty Cylinder
-
Replace the empty cylinder with a full one.
-
Turn the new cylinder on and check for leaks.
-
Move the changeover lever to point to the newly installed cylinder.
-
The indicator window will turn clear, showing this is now the active supply.
7. Continuous Use
-
When this new supply cylinder runs out, the unit will switch over automatically again.
-
Repeat the same replacement steps as needed.
