The reindeer you’ll meet are looked after with exceptional care by Real Reindeer Ltd, who have provided us with a detailed risk assessment, their Performing Animal Welfare Licence, and their full Animal Welfare Statement. This ensures that every aspect of their well-being, travel, handling, feeding, and public interaction is carried out responsibly and ethically.

According to Real Reindeer’s welfare information:

• Their herd is descended from a large Scandinavian group and transported with exceptional care, following a gradual domestication process to minimise stress.
• On their UK farm, the reindeer enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with multiple paddocks, shady resting areas including a 17th-century stone dovecote, and plenty of space to roam.
• They receive veterinary support from professionals experienced in reindeer-specific care, covering foot health, coat condition, nutrition, and general wellbeing.
• They undergo calm, positive training to ensure they are comfortable around people — many visitors comment on how relaxed they are, often lying down, eating hay, or calmly watching the world go by.

• Watch any children closely – and always ask handlers before touching or petting.
